Our two favorite resources are at the top--both have saved us lots of money and headaches over the years.  Also, note the property management industry organizations at the bottom of the page.  Both sites are worth visiting.

  • Landlord 411 (RECOMMENDED)
    Landlord411 is a one-stop resource center for landlords, with complete services, education and information on property management related issues. Offers over 1000 forms, credit reports for $3.95, and comprehensive landlord information and tools.
  • NOLO Law Center: Landlords & Tenants (RECOMMENDED)
    Articles and information on Leases and Rental Agreements, Tenant Selection and Housing Discrimination, Rent and Security Deposits, Repairs and Privacy Issues, Landlord Liability for Tenant Injuries, Roommates, Evictions, and Landlord-Tenant Statutes.

 

Important Property Management Organizations

Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM)
Professional real estate management association serving both the multi-family and commercial real estate sectors. This organization promotes education, ethics, and credentialed members should be highly regarded. Look for: Certified Property Manager® (CPM®) designation, the Accredited Residential Manager® (ARM®) certification, the Accredited Commercial Manager certification, and the Accredited Management Organization® (AMO®)

National Association of Residential Property Managers (NARPM)
Organization focused on managing single-family and small residential properties, and promotes business ethics, professionalism and fair housing practice. The Association also certifies its members in the standards and practices of the residential property management industry and promotes continuing professional education.
